<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and easily reflect a change in a diagnostic model when the change has occurred in a software environment. <P>SOLUTION: A fault diagnostic device records a processing process of software of an image forming apparatus (S300), acquires a log in response to the occurrence of a fault (S302, S304), and creates (S320) and holds a sub cause and effect network (S330). A management center collects the sub cause and effect network of each image forming apparatus periodically (S331-S336), classifies the collected sub cause and effect networks by model, embeds them into existing diagnostic models by model and optimizes the diagnostic model, and presents them to the relevant devices (S360, S361, S370).
