<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "an onboard television-broadcasting receiver and a method for selecting an antenna" reducing the load of allocation processing and being capable of suppressing the disturbance of a program during viewing and listening when allocating one antenna in a plurality of antennas for background processing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A car-body direction as a direction directing a car body is detected by a car-body direction detecting section 130, and a broadcasting-station direction as a direction, in which there is a broadcasting station, is detected by a broadcasting-station direction detecting section 150. The antenna with the most deviated directivity from the broadcasting-station directivity is selected by an antenna selecting section 160 as the antenna for background processing on the basis of each directivity direction of antennas (a), (b), (c) and (d) obtained by a directivity direction obtaining section 140 from the car-body direction and the broadcasting-station direction. Accordingly, the frequency of changeover of the antenna allocated for background processing is suppressed under an environment momentarily changing a receiving electric-field strength by the effects or the like due to multipaths or fading.
