PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal plate for wire grid having a structure suitable to a higher applicable frequency, and to provide a self-supported type wire grid including the metal plate for wire grid. SOLUTION: The metal plate 1 for wire grid has a lateral bar portion 12 formed at least wider than specified and also wider than a longitudinal bar portion 11. In this case, the metal plate 1 for wire grid, which has a structure suitable to a higher applicable frequency by the longitudinal bar portion 11 being narrower than the specified width, is obtained by electroforming to provide the self-support wire grid which includes the metal plate 1 for wire grid.
