<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery having a positive electrode layer capable of forming a pore and capable of controlling the pore shape, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The secondary battery includes a positive electrode layer, a negative electrode layer, and an electrolytic solution, and the positive electrode layer contains at least a positive electrode active material and a metal compound particle for forming pores, and the electrolytic solution contains a reactive material which can produce a salt by reaction with the metal compound particle for forming the pores. The manufacturing method of the secondary battery includes a composition forming step of producing a composition which contains at least the positive electrode active material and the metal compound particle for forming the pores, a positive electrode layer forming step of forming the positive electrode layer using the composition, a negative electrode layer forming step of forming the negative electrode layer, an electrolytic solution filling process in which the electrolytic solution containing a reactive material capable of producing a salt by reaction with the metal compound particle for forming pores is filled between the positive electrode layer and the negative electrode layer, and a pore forming process in which the pores are formed in the positive electrode layer by reacting the metal compound particle for forming the pores and the reactive material.
