PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of accurately tracking a subject to be tracked, with a relatively small load, even when tilting of an imaging apparatus is changed with respect to the optical axis of an imaging optical system. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises an imaging unit, a memory, an attitude sensor, a control unit, and a subject tracking unit. The imaging unit picks up a subject image within a photographing screen via an imaging optical system. The memory stores a template indicating features of a tracking object. The attitude sensor detects tilting of the photographing screen with the optical axis of the imaging optical system as a rotation center. The control unit adjusts the direction of the template so as to enlarge the rotation amount of the template with respect to the photographing screen in accordance with the magnitude of a change in tilting of the photographing screen. The subject tracking unit uses the adjusted template to continuously detect the subject to be tracked from the photographing screen. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
