<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily and adequately suppress a density variation of an image printed on a medium whose kind is unknown. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for setting a correction value comprises the correction value generating step for generating a second correction value whose correction amount is greater than that of a first correction value and a third correction value whose correction amount is smaller than that of the first correction value on the basis of the first correction value, the first correction value being set beforehand to be used for correcting a density of an image to be printed on a first medium. The method further comprises the pattern printing step for respectively printing a first pattern obtained by applying the first correction value, a second pattern obtained by applying the second correction value and a third pattern obtained by applying the third correction value on a second medium whose kind is different from that of the first medium, while allowing a head having a plurality of nozzles for ejecting a liquid to eject a liquid. The method still further comprises the correction value setting step for setting either one of the first correction value, the second correction value and the third correction value as the correction value to be used for correcting a density of an image to be printed on the second medium.
