The invention relates to a method for obtaining a mixture of fatty acid esters, suitable for use as a fuel in diesel-cycle engines, comprising the following steps: a) obtaining a microbial biomass having a triglyceride content equal to or greater than 20% in dry weight, using an oleaginous microorganism that uses glycerin as a carbon source; and b) converting the triglycerides contained in the biomass obtained in step (a) into a mixture of fatty acid esters. The invention also relates to the oleaginous microorganism, to a method for selecting same and to the polynucleotides obtained therefrom.
