<p>A process for plate material production which comprises: an original-plate-material preparation step in which an original plate material having a main surface is prepared; and an etching step in which at least part of the original plate material is immersed in an etchant and etched while causing the liquid surface of the etchant to descend on the main surface of the original plate material and controlling the descending rate to a desired value. Preferably, the process further includes, before the etching step, a surface profile measurement step in which the profile of the main surface of the prepared original plate material is measured, and in the etching step, the liquid-surface descending rate is controlled based on the surface profile measured. By this process, the surface profile of a main surface of a plate material can be more easily regulated to a desired profile. Also provided is a plate material.</p> |
