Control device and method for controlling personal safety devices for a vehicle

The method involves producing a signal of a contactlessly sensing sensor (KSS), which is arranged in a head rest. The signal is provided for monitoring a head position by impact of electrical field through the head position in surroundings of the head rest. A signal of an emergency sensor (US) e.g. acceleration sensor, is produced. A head movement is determined by monitoring a head. Weight of the head is determined based on the head movement. A control signal is produced based on both signals. Personal safety devices are controlled based on the control signal. An independent claim is also included for a control device for controlling a personal safety device for a vehicle.
