An article of footwear 1 comprising an upper 5 having at least one ventilating groove 3a-i formed in the upper. The ventilating groove 3a-i is open to an interior of the article of footwear 1 to facilitate ventilation. The ventilating groove 3a-i is preferably open along its length, and may be covered with fabric. Preferably a first end of the ventilating groove extends to a collar 21 at the top of the article. The article may be a waterproof boot formed from rubber. The article may further comprise at least one underfoot ventilating groove. Also claimed is an insert for footwear comprising at least one ventilating groove, and a method of forming at least one ventilating groove in an article using a mould. |
