PURPOSE: A color resist composition and color filter using the same are provided to reduce the surface roughness of optical shield layer or chromatic layer and prevent the generation of spot of the filter. CONSTITUTION: A color resist composition comprises color material, alkali developing resin composition, photo polymerization initiator and organic solvent. The organic solvent contains dialkylamide as a necessary ingredient. The dialkylamide is selected among propyleneglycolmonomethyletheracetate (PGMAC), dimethylacetateamide (DMAC) or diethylacetamide (DEAC).
