Sampling connector with one way valve to prevent injection

A sampling connector comprising a one way valve 24 to allow fluid withdrawal but to prevent injection into a sampling port. The device may further feature a stop valve 26 to prevent spillage when a sampling device is not attached. The device may be permanently attached to the tubing from which sampling is desired or may be reversibly connectable or difficult to disconnect and may utilise a luer slip or luer lock configuration or a male/female configuration. The sampling port may form part of a three way tap and the device may be used as part of a cerebrospinal fluid drain, with haemodialysis equipment or with cardiopulmonary bypass equipment. Colour coding may also be used to indicate the suitability of the device for sampling a body fluid.
