Tire running tread (I) comprises a rubber composition (II) having at least one diene elastomer, reinforcing filler and vulcanization system, where (II) comprises a xanthan gum powder of 10-40 parts by weight for 100 parts of the elastomer. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for preparing (II) comprising a first phase of mixing thermomechanical constituents of (II), except the vulcanization system, and incorporating the xanthan gum powder during the first phase of mixing; (2) a tire comprising (I); (3) a winter tire comprising (I); and (4) a tire, equipped for heavy load vehicles and cars, comprising (I).
