A latching mechanism (10) for a cash drawer (2) having a cash drawer housing comprises a mechanism housing (52) mounting components of the latching mechanism (10), the mechanism housing (52) and the components being mounted as a preassembled unit on the cash drawer housing with the components arranged between the mechanism housing (52) and the cash drawer housing such that the mechanism housing (52) forms a cover for the components. The mechanism housing (52) could be a tray-like mechanism (10). A lid opening mechanism (70) comprising a spring biased arm (72) mounted to a wall of the cash drawer (2) and a lid part mounted to a side wall of the lid. The basing force of the spring is selectively adjustable. A damping mechanism comprising a mechanism housing with a spring arm (98), which is engageable with a damping formation on the actuating arm (72). |
