An acoustic panel suitable for use in a gas turbine engine fan casing, the panel having an acoustic structure 4 with a perforated sheet (6, figure 1) on one side, and a backing sheet (12, figure 1) on the opposite side, a circumferential edge of the panel being non-linear to facilitate, in use, engagement with another panel. A fastening portion 8 may extend from the acoustic panel and may constitute an ice impact panel. The acoustic structure 4, perforated sheet (6) and fastening portion 8 may be formed integrally by injection moulding. The non-linear panel edges may be formed by cells of the acoustic structure 4, each cell forming a lug 14A which may cooperate with a recess in an adjacent panel. The fan casing may comprise a circumferential array of acoustic panels each joined at their circumferential edges, possibly by adhesive bonding or welding. |
