[Class 42 (i)] A band 13 for insertion in the folded edge of a shoe upper &c. passes through a guide 11 pivoted at 9a to the frame A and is raised about the said pivot by means of a lever 5 and a cam 4 on the end of a rod 3 when the rod is moved endways by means of the handle 1, the handle at the same time moving a rod 14 carrying a pair of shears 16 the movable blade of which is first opened and then closed to sever the band 13 by means of a fixed cam 18. The apparatus can be attached to an edge-folding machine by bolts through holes 20.
