PURPOSE: A composition for the generation of carbon dioxide gas is provided to supply high concentration of carbon dioxide to plants in a vinyl house in order to promote carbon assimilation, thereby improving the growth of the plants. CONSTITUTION: A composition for the generation of carbon dioxide gas is composed of 60-90wt% of carbonate compound and acid support containing 10-40wt% of inorganic or organic acids. The inorganic or organic acids represent weak dibasic acids with a primary acid dissociation constant(pKa) of 10-4 or less. The inorganic or organic acids are selected from the group consisting of boric acid(H3BO3), citric acid, benzoic acid, and tataric acid.
