PURPOSE: A method for changing a type of a cartridge chip is provided to change a driving program loaded in the cartridge chip and change data per a type recorded in the cartridge chip, thereby changing a cartridge chip used in a previous type by a cartridge chip suitable for a printing device of a target type. CONSTITUTION: A method for changing a type of a cartridge chip comprises the following steps. A driving program loaded in a cartridge chip(200) is changed. Or data per a type recorded in the cartridge chip is changed. Or both the data per a type and the driving program are changed.
