A lock system for controlling opening of a door is disclosed. The lock system comprises a remote processor, a lock assembly connected to the remote processor, and a key tag reader connected to the lock assembly. The connection between the key tag reader and the lock assembly enables a user signal to be transmitted to the remote processor via the connection between the lock assembly and the remote processor. The lock assembly includes a housing, a lock bolt mounted on the housing, at least one actuator operable from an outer side of the assembly, and electric control means which when active renders the actuator inoperable.
