Melon plants

Provided is a Cucumis melo plant capable of producing fruit, wherein said fruit comprises at maturity: a) about 400 mg to 1200 mg citric acid per 100 g fwt; b) pH of about 4.2 to about 5.6; and c) about 5.0 g to 15.0 g sugar per 100 g fwt; and wherein the ratio of citric acid to malic acid in said fruit is greater than 5, and wherein the genome of the plant includes the molecular markers NE0585 and NE1746. Further provided are seeds and fruit of said plants and methods of producing such fruit.
