<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and securely disconnect a zinc oxide type varistor when the abnormal generation of heat caused by the deterioration of the zinc oxide type varistor occurs. <P>SOLUTION: The SPD with disconnecting mechanism includes a zinc oxide type varistor 5-7 connected between a power source terminal 1-3 and a ground terminal 4, and a disconnecting mechanism 9-11 which is connected between the zinc oxide type varistor 5-7 and the power source terminal 1-3 and disconnects the zinc oxide type varistors 5-7 from the power source terminals 1-3 due to the abnormal generation of heat, wherein the zinc oxide type varistors 5-7 have plate-like varistor elements 21-23 and electrodes 25-27 exposed toward the main plane side thereof, the disconnecting mechanisms 9-11 have disconnecting conductors 42-44, the base end portions 42a-44a of which are attached to the power source terminals 1-3, the front end portions 42b-44b of which are joined to the electrodes 25-27 of the varistor elements 21-23 via low-temperature molten metal alloys 48-50, and by the softened low temperature molten metal alloys 48-50, the front end portions 42b-44b moves toward the direction along the main plane of the varistor elements 21-23, so that an elastic force makes it possible to disengage from the electrodes 25-27. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
