<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive wheel bearing device for allowing the easy detection of the abnormal or deteriorated state of a bearing without the need for disassembling it or using a special device when inspecting a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The wheel bearing device 1 comprises an outward member 2 having a wheel mounting flange 2b integrally provided at the end outer periphery and a double-row outside rolling surface 2a formed at the inner periphery, a pair of inner rings 3 having inside rolling surfaces 3a formed at the outer peripheries, double-row tapered rollers 4 stored between both rolling surfaces via a cage 5, and seals 6, 7 mounted in an opening of an annular space formed between the outward member 2 and the inner ring 3. At the inner-side end outer periphery of the outward member 2, a step 10 is formed whose diameter is slightly smaller than the outer diameter. A sheet-shaped temperature indicating material 11 is pasted at the step 10, and on the rear surface of the step, an adhesive is applied. Thus, the deteriorated state of the bearing is visually and easily detected without disassembling it when inspecting the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
