PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a processing load on a client computer, and to remarkably shorten required time for backup processing. SOLUTION: A backup program monitors a content change in a preset monitoring setting folder, preliminarily enumerates lower-layer folders serving under the monitoring setting folder when starting the monitoring of the content change in the preset folder in order to back up changed data in the monitoring setting folder into another storage area of a concerned client computer 2 and/or in a storage area in a backup server 3, assumes that the enumerated lower-layer folders are the monitoring setting folders, and directly monitors the content change in the lower-layer folders assumed as the concerned monitoring setting folder in the same way as that of the preset monitoring setting folder.
