PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and compact electromagnet-type magnetic refrigerating system, applying a magnetic field to saturated magnetic flux density to a magnetic working material without using a permanent magnet. SOLUTION: This electromagnet-type magnetic refrigerating system has: a cylindrical cell 4, a cylindrical magnetic working material 2 disposed in the longitudinal direction in the cylindrical cell 4; an exciting coil 3 wound on the cylindrical magnetic working material 2, an electric current source 1 connectable with the exciting coil 3; and an on/off switch 8 disposed between the electric current source 1 and the exciting coil 3.
