PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dryer and an image forming apparatus, which efficiently dry and remove a solvent on a recording medium, and prevent degradation of an image quality due to rubbing. SOLUTION: The dryer includes: a conveying means (18) for conveying a recording medium (16) with a solvent (34) imparted thereon; gas-flow generating means (50) and (54) for generating an gas-flow to blow a wind to the solvent-imparted surface of the recording medium (16); a duct (40) surrounding the gas-flow; an opening (48) formed in the duct (40), and passing the recording medium (16); and a roller member (26) arranged in the vicinity of the opening (48), and having a larger diameter than a clearance between the edge of the opening (48) and the solvent-imparted surface of the recording medium (16) passing the opening (48).
