PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of stably executing turret indexing operations and clamping operations. SOLUTION: A tool rest 11 is mounted with a fixing cover 31 extending along the upper portion of an outer circumference of the front surface of the tool rest 11. A turret 12 is provided with a movable cover 32 extending along the whole of the outer circumference of the back surface of the turret 12. The end portion of the fixing cover 31 is installed with an extension portion 33 protruding toward the outward of the movable cover 32 from the end portion of the fixing cover 31. A cover clearance C2 is formed between the extension portion 33 of the fixing cover 31 and the end portion of the movable cover 32. To discharge cleaning fluid from the cover clearance C2, the cleaning fluid is supplied to between the front surface of the tool rest 11 and the back surface of the turret 12.
