PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the pattern shift of sewing by effectively preventing the slack of a workpiece at a sewing position. SOLUTION: The workpiece transfer device for a sewing machine includes a pair of rotating bodies 17 disposed away from each other at an interval corresponding to the horizontal width of the workpiece H and configured so as to be moved along a track curved in a circular or circular arcuate shape respectively, a drive mechanism 30 for synchronously moving the pair of rotating bodies along the curved track, and a pair of holding members 23 and 24 for holding respective ends in the horizontal width direction of the workpiece H to be sewn along the respective rotating bodies. Both right and left ends of the workpiece are held in the state of being spread in a curved surface shape along the curved track of the rotating bodies by the holding members 23 and 24, and the workpiece held by the holding members is moved along the curved track accompanying the movement of the rotating bodies.
