PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device having a movable touch pad with added functionality.

SOLUTION: The input device includes the movable touch pad capable of detecting an object in close proximity to generate a first control signal. The input device includes a movement indicator capable of detecting the movement of the movable touch pad to generate one or more distinct second control signals. The control signals are used to perform actions in an electronic device operatively coupled to the input device.
