摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make reproduction of an image possible without image quality deterioration even under a strong light input condition in which a signal reaches a saturation level, and expand a dynamic range. SOLUTION: A solid-state imaging device 200 includes: a plurality of photodiodes 1 (PD) arranged in a two dimensional shape; vertical charge transfer routes 2 (VCCD) which read out signal charge generated in the photodiodes 1, and transfer the charge in a predetermined direction; and a vertical type overflow drain which ejects the signal charge superfluously generated in the photodiodes 1 (PD) to a device board 5 side. The device adds the signal charge read out in multiple times on the vertical charge transfer routes 2 (VCCD) while it reads out signal charge in multiple times from the photodiodes 1 (PD) to the vertical charge transfer routes 2 (VCCD) in a frame, and inversely transfers the signal charge of a part exceeding signal charge of a fixed quantity out of read out signal charge to the photodiodes 1 (PD).
