PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing increase of a capacity of a memory for a table to be used for image-processing even when image quality is enhanced, and a method for forming an image. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises an image processing waveform memory 202a that stores first image processing table data indicating a single dimensional relationship between an input value and an output value of predetermined bit-numbered data, and a data interpolation section 202b that performs arithmetic processing by using a plurality of table values in the first image processing table data and generates a second image processing table data while interpolating between the plurality of table values. The image processing section 202 generates image data for printing while performing the image-processing of image data input by using the second image processing table data.
