PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal power generation device element having high power generation characteristics. SOLUTION: The thermal power generation device element includes a first electrode 11 and a second electrode 12, and a stack 13 formed by stacking an ACo<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>layer (A=Na, Sr or Ca) 14 and a metal layer 15 alternately, and has electric connections such that a direction 15 parallel to layers of the stack 13 is inclined to a direction 17 wherein the first electrode 11 and second electrode 12 face each other. Here, a direction 18 wherein a temperature difference is applied is made perpendicular to the direction 17 wherein the electrode faces each other to obtain high power generation characteristics.
