PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software update system, a software update method, and a program for reducing burden on a user. SOLUTION: The software update system 100 includes: a start soft monitoring means 102 for monitoring use state of the software; a software use state determining means 101 for predicting a date to use software next from the past use states of the software; a software information database 104 for recording the past use states of the software and the predicted next use date of the software; a patch application determining means 105 for regularly determining whether or not to check update of the software and checking whether or not a vender site 200 to deliver a patch via a communication path (network) is updated when the update is checked; and a patch applying means 106 for applying the patch delivered via a network from the vender site 200 when the patch application determining means 105 determines updating.
