PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification device which exhibits an excellent purification effect, such as sterilization, and a purification tank equipped with the purification device. SOLUTION: The purification device 1 is provided with: a cylindrical ultraviolet lamp 2 emitting light of various wavelengths; a cylindrical quartz glass tube 3 covering the outer peripheral surface of the ultraviolet lamp 2; a mesh stainless housing 5 accommodating the ultraviolet lamp 2 and the quartz glass tube 3 and formed with a plurality of holes; and a plurality of titanium dioxide balls 4 filling the gap between the quartz glass tube 3 and the housing 5 to cover the outer peripheral surface of the quartz glass tube 3. The ultraviolet lamp 2 is connected with an electric cable 6, and electricity is supplied through the electric cable 6 into the ultraviolet lamp 2 to emit ultraviolet light. Since the titanium dioxide ball 4 is larger than the hole formed in the housing 5, the ball 4 does not spill out of the hole of the housing 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
