<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film used for a polarizing plate protection film or the like where, even if the deviations of the optical values (in-plane retardation and retardation in the thickness direction) are reduced, and an extension rate is increased particularly for widening, the increase of the deviation in the width direction of the optical value is suppressed, so as to improve deterioration in winding properties (such as a projecting shaped trouble), the increase of haze is suppressed, and its transparency is high and optical properties are stable, thus to achieve the thinning and lightening, the increase of definition and the increase of an image quality in a liquid crystal display or the like. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical film, the deviation of the in-plane retardation in the film width direction lies within 0 to 0.5 nm, the deviation of the retardation in the thickness direction lies within the range of 0 to 5 nm, and the deviation of an orientation angle lies within 0 to 5 degrees.
