PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for determining a state of a station in a wireless local area network. SOLUTION: In a wireless local area network (WLAN), transmission signals exchanged between a station and an access point (AP) are received using a detector located in the vicinity of the station. The received transmission signals are analyzed to determine the state of the station. The state of the station indicates whether or not the station has been authenticated and/or is in connection with the access point (AP) in the wireless local area network. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
