PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus for a vehicle, which enables a driver to suitably confirm a position of the vehicle itself by setting an image viewed from driver's eyes as a front view image independently of a direction to which a screen of a monitor is turned though the apparatus is advantageous in installation space and cost. SOLUTION: The image display apparatus for the vehicle includes a rear camera 1 attached to a periphery of the vehicle to image the periphery of the vehicle, the monitor 2 attached to a room of the vehicle to display a camera image and a rear camera control unit 3 for converting an image picked up by the rear camera 1 into pixel data of a camera image and generating the pixel data of a monitor image to be output to the monitor 2 based on the pixel data of the camera image. The rear camera control unit 3 performs coordinate transformation for the pixel data of the camera image so that an image viewed from driver's eyes becomes a front view image and generates the pixel data of the monitor image to be output to the monitor 2.
