PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical display device capable of suppressing the degradation in a display quality. SOLUTION: The electrochemical display device is provided with: a display element 1 including at least a pixel electrode 18 and a transparent electrode 20 arranged facing each other across an electrolyte 11; and a controller 2 for controlling rewrite of information to be displayed in a display region 1a. Then, a redox reaction is effected by generating a voltage between the pixel electrode 18 and the transparent electrode 20, and the controller 2 determines whether the voltage generated between the pixel electrode 18 and the transparent electrode 20 becomes smaller than a prescribed value in the case of write operation. When the voltage generated between the pixel electrode 18 and the transparent electrode 20 is determined to be smaller than the prescribed value, the controller performs the control to divide write operation into a plurality of times.
