PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a creation method and a creation base material to be laid outer or inner faces of facilities for creating various colorful optical designs by making natural rays and artificial rays transmit through the material. SOLUTION: The creation base material for various colorful optical designs has a configuration comprising a sheet base having an integrated two-layer structure obtained by co-extruding synthetic resin materials having excellent light transparency and different hardness degrees from each other, whose whole surface on the side of the lower hardness is processed into the pattern of fine and uniform prisms. In the creation method for various colorful optical designs comprises, the creation material for various colorful optical designs is disposed on outer or inner faces of facilities, and natural rays or artificial rays are made incident on and transmit through the material so as to create and visualize patterns of various colorful optical designs by spectral dispersion, refraction of incident rays, and a lens effect.
