<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing a borate-based crystal by which a borate-based crystal useful as a wavelength conversion optical element or the like can be easily produced inexpensively in a short period of time and the quality such as homogeneity can be improved, and to provide a laser oscillation apparatus using the crystal as a wavelength conversion optical element. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the borate-based crystal comprises dissolving a water-soluble cesium compound and boron compound, as raw materials, together with at least one water-soluble compound of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal other than cesium and lithium, as occasion demands, in water to obtain an aqueous solution, then evaporating water from the solution, and either through sintering or not, to obtain a culture material, and then fusing the obtained culture material to grow a cesium-borate-based crystal having a chemical composition represented by general formula: Cs<SB>1-x</SB>M<SB>x</SB>B<SB>3</SB>O<SB>5</SB>(0≤x<1) (wherein M is at least one kind of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal element except cesium and lithium). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
