<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment composition improving pigment dispersibility and dispersion stability; an ink composition using it; printed matter; and a method for inkjet recording; as well as an polyallylamine derivative useful for them. <P>SOLUTION: A pigment composition includes (A) a polyallylamine derivative composed of the general formulas (1-a), (1-b), and (1-c); and (B) a pigment. In the formulas, R<SP>1</SP>represents -NHCOR<SP>3</SP>or -NH<SB>3</SB><SP>+</SP>OCOR<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>represents a residue obtained by removing carboxy groups from any one of polyester, polyamide, and polyesteramide having free carboxylic acid.
