PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a feeling of operation by protecting an operating wire irrespective of the curvature of a curving tube portion. SOLUTION: The insertion portion of an endoscope comprises a tip hard portion 1a provided with at least a lighting portion 4 and an observation portion 5, the curving tube portion 1b connected to the tip hard portion 1a with a plurality of curving rings 10 connected by pivoting pins 11, and a flexible tube portion 1c connected to the curving tube portion 1b and the body operating section 2. The curving ring 10 comprises a cut squeezing portion 30 to pass the operating wire 20 to curve the curving tube portion 1b by remote operations from a body operating section 2, and an inward projecting portion 31 is provided in the positions before and after the axial direction of the cut squeezing portion 30. The provision of the projecting portion 31 in the curving ring 10 prevents the operating wire 20 from rubbing against the edge EG of the curving ring 10, and allows the operating wire 20 to be protected and a feeling of operation to be improved.
