PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a large working space for maintenance and inspection above an elevator cage. SOLUTION: An air conditioner 5 air-conditioning the inside of the cage 4 is disposed on the outside of the sidewall surface 4b of the cage 4 rather than on the cage 4. The air conditioner 5 is composed of an evaporator section 8 and a condenser section 9 arranged on an upper side and a lower side, respectively, with a partitioning wall 7 as a boundary and stored in the same casing 6. The discharge port of the condenser section 8 is arranged in the lowermost portion of the casing, and a fan for a condenser is arranged immediately above a discharge port. The discharge port of the condenser section of the air conditioner is arranged in the lowermost portion of the casing, and the fan for the condenser is arranged immediately above the discharge port. The cold air supply port of the evaporator section of the air conditioner communicates with air blowout ports formed in the upper portion of the sidewall surface of the cage.
