PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train sensing device capable of sensing a failure in a circuit while the construction remains simple. SOLUTION: The train sensing device is equipped with signal transmitting/receiving circuits 4, 5, 6 to transmit the prescribed train sensing signal to one-side ends of a plurality of track circuits and receive the train sensing signal from their other ends and a sensor circuit 16 to sense existence or absence of any train 2 in the track circuits based on whether the prescribed train sensing signal transmitted is received, wherein the transmitting/receiving circuits 4, 5, 6 turn on only a starting end transmitting switch 11 which has transmitted the prescribed train sensing signal to the track circuits at a check slot provided in the transmitting motion, and turn off all other switches 12, 13, 14, while the sensor circuit 16 determines that a circuit failure exists in the case signal is received at check slot.
