METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DEFEATING HIGH-SPEED PROJECTILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible body protector can withstand a high-speed projectile such as a bullet of a rifle. SOLUTION: A plurality of disks having the same diameters and thicknesses of 0.100 inch (2.54 mm) or more are arranged in a scaly pattern. The body protector 10 is designed to cover a user's torso for protecting the vital part from the high-speed projectile. The whole body protector 10 is kept to be flexible by the disks suitably arranged in the scaly pattern 12 to provide excellent protection against the high-speed projectile. The scaly pattern 12 can be bent around a body outline. Accordingly, it is considerably comfortable and can be easily hidden. The scaly pattern 12 is generally sandwiched between textiles 14 of two layers made of fibers with high tensile strength such as aramid fibers or polyethylene fibers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
