PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine having improved washing performance and suppressing nonuniformity in washing. SOLUTION: On the inner surface of the barrel wall part 15b of a washing and spin-drying tub 15 in which washing and spin-drying are carried out, a plurality of tub projecting parts 18 are formed. The tub projecting parts 18 are constituted by forming first cross-sections vertical relative to the axial direction of the washing and spin-drying tub 15 to be triangular, and forming the second cross sections perpendicularly crossed with the first cross-sections and along the axial direction of the washing and spin-drying tub 15 to be circular arcuate. Consequently, when a washing operation is performed, washing power is reinforced by transmitting effective mechanical power to laundry through the use of the angular parts of the tub projection parts 18. Since the tub projection parts 18 are formed to be circular arcuate in the axial direction, thereby smoothly performing the vertical exchange of the laundry during the washing operation.
