PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To close a session between a server and a client by the server which takes the initiative in a client, server, system, and a server control method. SOLUTION: Disclosed are a client, server, system, and a server control method including a server 1 and a plurality of clients 2 for establishing a session from the client 2 through a network 3 to the server 1, and for transferring a file requested by the client 2 from the server 1 and a server control method. The server 1 is provided with: a database 12 for storing files requested by a plurality of clients 2; a registration table 13 for registering URI corresponding to the request file of the client 2; and a control processing part 11, and configured to establish a session requested by the client 2 through the network 3, and to transfer the file requested by the client, and to identify the completion of the transfer of the file corresponding to the URI by referring to the registration table 13, and to close the session.
