<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleep device capable of supporting a user's appropriate sleep according to the degree of sleepiness of a driver as the user. <P>SOLUTION: The sleep device includes a sleepiness degree detection part 6 to detect the present degree of sleepiness of the driver, and a sleeping method control part 11 to control the depth of the sleep of the driver based on the degree of sleepiness detected by the sleepiness degree detection part 6. The sleeping method control part 11 executes first sleep control to retain the depth of the sleep of the driver at a prescribed level shallower than the maximum level if the degree of sleepiness detected by the sleepiness degree detection part 6 is not more than a prescribed threshold.
