PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that thrust ripples occur by an increase of magnetic resistance on a boundary face of a stator and that the thrust ripples become large in proportion to the number of sliders when a plurality of moving members are connected in series for obtaining thrust force in a linear motor whose movable range is made large. SOLUTION: In the linear motor, the moving members 51a and 51b have three moving member blocks of U, V and W phases, which are arranged inside. The stators 52a and 52b have stator salient poles arranged on confronted faces at prescribed intervals, and they are disposed in a moving direction of the moving members by arranging stator blocks in whole length L0. When distances between a boundary face formed between the adjacent stator blocks of the stators and an end face of the moving member are set to be L1 and L2, and the moving members are disposed to satisfy a relation of L1-L2=k×L0±(1/2)×L0 ((k) is integer), cross timing of the boundary face and magnetic flux differs in the moving members 51a and 51b. Thus, an attenuation operation of thrust is distributed and the thrust ripples become small. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
