PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric rice cooker with a heat insulation function, capable of heat-insulating the rice without yellowing the heat-insulated rice by simple control without changing the structure of an existing rice cooker. SOLUTION: The electric rice cooker 1 includes: a pot 10 into which an object to be boiled is loaded; heating means 5, 6 and 19 for heating the object to be boiled; a lid 11 for closing an opening of the pot 10; a steam hole 13 for releasing steam inside the pot 10 to outside; a valve opening/closing mechanism 15 for opening/closing the steam hole 13; and a control device 9 for executing a rice boiling process of boiling the object to be boiled and a heat insulating process of heat-insulating the boiled object. The control device 9 makes the valve opening/closing mechanism 15 open the steam hole 13 in the heat insulating process and makes the heating means 5 heat the boiled object in the pot 10 to evaporate moisture included in the boiled object. Then, internal air in the pot 10 is released by the steam to outside from the steam hole 13 and is substituted with the steam. After that, the steam hole 13 is closed to make the inside of the pot 10 in the vacuum state, and the boiled object is heat-insulated at a prescribed temperature by controlling the heating means 5, 6 and 19.
