PURPOSE: A beam forming method in a multi antenna multi user communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to simplify and integrate a system design, thereby overcoming performance deterioration due to quantization. CONSTITUTION: A beam forming method in a transmitting device of a multi antenna multi user communication system comprises a controller(106), a beam former(108-1~108-K) and transmitting antennas(116-1~116-K). The controller groups codebook indexes that a codebook includes by codebook index combinations. The controller calculates a sum of transfer rates about each codebook index combination. The controller selects a codebook index combination in which the calculated transfer rate has the maximum value as the optimum codebook index combination.
